The A To Z Of Britain

Attitude - British are mostly warm and hospitable, except for a few who still think they lord over anyone with a different skin, hair and eye colour.

Breathtaking - Lush hills, flowing plains, natural landforms, old buildings .... In a word, BEAUTIFUL!

Chivalrous - Men offer their seats to ladies on the Tube and "ladies first" is really practised. Now why can other places not follow this?

Drama - Theatres at every town, Shakespeare's plays everywhere, home of Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, Dante, Chaucer.... Need I say more?

Exhilarating - An exciting and exhilarating trip for me, totally euphoric!

Food - Yorkshire Pudding, Shepherd's Pie, Fish and Chips, Bonaffee Pie, English Breakfast, Carrot Cake.... DROOL!!!

Great - Imagine for such a small country, it had the ability to colonise so many parts of the world, with the former colonies still adapting its customs and practices to a certain extent. No wonder if is called "Great Britain"!

History - The country is steeped in history and heritage. Which is a good thing! Why can my country not follow in its footsteps?

Illustrious - British are hardworking people. They take pride in what they do and always ready to greet with a warm smile, unlike some of the locals here.

Jolly - British are jolly people. They have a happy disposition, which makes them happy overall.

King - The monarchy still exists, or in this case, the female king.

Literature - The land of English Literature. Enough said.

Motels - Bed and Breakfast inns are cheaper and nicer than mere hotels. Some of the inns we stayed in were converted from a person's cottage, and gives a very homely feel. Makes me feel comfortable and enjoyable.

Nobility - The class system is still pretty dominant. A title still means a lot to many locals and foreigners alike.

Outstanding - The fusion of old and new is what makes the country outstanding and beautiful.

Picturesque - The lolling hills, sheep after sheep after sheep, the green green grass against the blue blue sky with very few clouds... it makes for a pretty picture, which is why I took so many photos!

Queen - The reigning monarch.

Romans - The Roman influence of olden days are still evident in places like Bath or the Lake District, when there were still some traces of the old Roman roads.

Stonehenge - No wonder the stones are so amazing, despite not being very big. Where they came from is still a mystery to this day.

Tube - The London Underground is one of the oldest and most successful system in the world. Just by taking the Tube, one gets to travel places within London without any fear of being caught in a traffic jam or trying to find a place to park.

Underground - See above.

Visitor - Anyone from out-of-town, which included my parents and I, and anyone who was studying there from overseas. The country has such a conducive environment, no wonder people like to go there to study! Imagine having lessons in a medieval building, right by a lake with swans and trees..... Wonderful!

Weather - At least from my experience (cannot say for all throughout the year), the weather is unpredictable. It rains one minute then shines the next minute. Somehow it can rain and stop ten times in two hours, each lasting for just ten minutes or so.

Xenophobia - Luckily this does not happen in Britain.

Yorkshire Pudding - Not just found in Yorkshire. Delicious pie with roast lamb, or beef, or chicken, with onion and vegetables and gravy. Heavenly!

Zzzzzzz - Now that the trip is over, that is the first thing I planned to do - hit the sack!
