The cinema I went to watch Bond in is newly opened. Not that new, opened about two years ago, but it was converted from an old cinema that used to stand in its place. That used to be a favourite cinema as there would be a theatre that featured more “artistic” kinds of films – films which the general public may not understand nor appreciate.
In any case, the car park has a very narrow entrance, that one can almost miss it. Not to mention a relatively narrow slope going up, that only a relatively experienced driver can handle without a glitch. The last time I called someone while he was trying to maneuver his dad’s car up a slope like that, he just got his license and he went too close to the side and scratched the car, so blamed me for it. How was I supposed to know he would be driving that day, and even then, that he was going up a narrow slope?
Anyway, the slope is not the problem here. My friend managed to go by without any damage to his car. But then he has been driving for a few years or so, and has driven in worse terrains and conditions before while overseas, so just a narrow slope is not a problem for him. The structure of the car park is the problem.
The lots are pretty narrow. He parked at the lot next to a wall. Needless to say, the wall was at my end, but luckily I managed to squeeze out. I did not attend all those slimming sessions for nothing! This is one time when being small size is an advantage!
Then we tried to find a way in from the car park. There were footsteps drawn on the ground, so we just followed the footsteps through a door. That was where the confusion started, because there were stairs going up and down. We parked on the third floor, so by right, we had to go up to get to the cinema. However, it was some kind of storage room when we went up, so we had to go down again.
We followed the stairs down to the second floor, where there was a sign pointing to the door, saying “Shops”. So we opened the door, and guess what? We ended up at another car park! There were some more footsteps on the ground leading the way, so we came out of the door and followed the footsteps where they turned to another corner. There is a door at the end of the corner. We opened it and this time, we were on the right track, as we happened to enter by the side where the washrooms are.
Then we walked past the washrooms and came out of a door leading into the shops, and realized that half the building’s escalators are on the right side and the other half are on the left side. We had to turn right to take the escalator up, before realizing that the escalator on the upper floor is on the other side, so in the end, we gave up and just took the elevator.
We could barely squeeze into the elevator but luckily both of us are not that big size, so managed to get by. Going back, we went down the escalator and went back the way we came. Thank goodness both of us are relatively good with directions! I wonder who designed the building? Pretty confusing if you ask me!
