At last, we have some breakthrough in local literature! I saw from the alumni newsletter of my alma mater (which I receive via email every month) that there is going to be a compilation of local books which have become "classics" in the local context. Helming this project will be the National Library Board and someone from the humanities department. In fact, the book has already been published!
In the Sunday Lifestyle today, I saw that our most prominent criminal lawyer has also published a book, on the cases he undertook. Always been waiting for something like this, because despite being a small and somewhat peaceful and safe place, it is stories like these that make one realise we are not as sheltered as others think, that crime and evil do occur.
Having said that, many condolences to the family of the poor girl who got bombed to death in Mumbai. Our first victim of terrorism! Not to mention Woolworth's of England has crashed! What next, I wonder? This is a very wicked world one lives in, as the late Dame Christie always mentions in her books. She had a sordid, albeit realistic view of just how cruel the world is, and it has not changed through the years. In fact, with technology, it had become worse!
