A Goof Up?

Just when I thought I got my flight details settled, the airline had a major screw up. Flights were cancelled without informing anyone, and we were automatically defaulted to the next available flight, which in our case, the earliest flight one day later. So we had to go off one day later and come back one day later.

That really inconveniences everyone! The reason we booked the flight the day before was to cater for accommodation, and so we could spend more time exploring the place the next day onwards. The reason we booked the flight back was because the next day would be a working day so we had to reach home the night before!

In this new timing, we had to cut short our trip by a night, leaving us lesser time to explore the place. Besides, some have a meeting early in the morning, so it is absolutely essential that they go back as stipulated, instead of one day later!

In the first place, if the airline wants to cancel its flights, the least it can do is to inform us and ask us if we are comfortable on another timing, instead of defaulting us to whichever they like. There must be a reason why we booked the timings, right? If we can make it back a day later, we would have done it on our own accord!

In the end, I will be leaving the next morning. Luckily the flight will not be that long, so I can still reach the destination in the morning itself. And I will be taking the night flight back so I can go straight back to work the next day. That is because I am a paying customer.

For my friends who have to redeem their mileage points, they are not that lucky, as they will be subjected to whichever timings the airline can cater to them. So hopefully they can get their flights settled then we can all leave together and come back together!

Honestly, I will not expect something like this to occur on such a reputable international brand, especially since they always pride themselves on putting their customers first!
