I cannot believe that a certain big insurance company that got bailed out is in trouble again, by giving the employees big bonuses, when everyone in every part of the world is now cutting down staff! Even for us, we are only given a minimal amount and having a pay cut, and recently there have been people who have had their services terminated.
Yet, those big wigs can use taxpayer’s money to give big annual dues to their staff! True, it is stipulated in their employment contract, but sometimes whatever that is stated in black and white are just that – words. They are inanimate, whereas people can be flexible. If the company is doing well and making money on its own accord, no one will bother how much bonus they pay to the staff.
But if the company was on the brink of collapsing and it took a big government grant to save them, then they should at least be “grateful” and start prioritizing in restructuring the company, instead of being extravagant by going on expensive retreats and giving big bonuses! Because of this, the government may not want to bail out any other company!
I must hand it to the new guy. He really put his foot down and demanded the staff return all the bonuses. Unfortunately, some left after getting the bonus. So he imposed a tax so as to get back the money. Hats off to this guy!
At least he is showing he means business when he said he would try his best to help the country tide over their financial troubles. Hopefully he is really able to clean up the mess left by the predecessor and become another enigmatic leader!
